Inflatable
Boat Repair
7-28-02
Dear group,
Does anyone have any experience with inflatable boats
out there such as zodiac or sea eagle. My question is
what type of adhesive do you use to repair leaks in
the pontoons. I have tried rubber repair kits,
tractor trailer tire repair kits, and marine grade
goop with no luck. Any advice would be really
appreciated.
Thanks again,

I have used Aquaseal with Cotol-240 to speed up the repair. I
used a piece
of plastic from a water bed repair kit. The repairs have lasted two years so
far on an Avon inflatable.

It really all depends on what the material is. I would
recommend a good
white water raft outfitter.

If you are dealing with a Zodiac then the material is probably
Hypalon.
Contact your nearest either Zodiac dealer or a marine supply store and they
have a specific glue for these types of boats. Before you apply the glue
make sure you clean the area with a cleaner such as MEK I have repaired our
boats and this works well. I learned this from the Coast Guard in our area.
They fixed some D rings for me and they are still glued on.
